Background

RSVU was designed and implemented in 2012 when a member of King County Search and Rescue Association (KCSARA) saw a need for specialty vehicles to implement current rescues, searches, and recoveries being done by the association. This brought ATV’s and snowmobiles into new resources that could be utilized. RSVU started with five members and continues to draw new members every year.

RSVU (Regional Special Vehicle Unit) is a volunteer-based non-profit organization based in King County, Washington State specializing in mobile search and rescue operations in terrains that would not be passable by conventional vehicles by using ATVs, snowmobiles, etc. The RSVU team consists of experts in mobile, mountain, ground searches and recoveries with specialties in communication and wilderness.
